Level 1 certificate
Introduction to the Forest School Methodology
The Level 1 is an official introductory course for those interested in the ethos of Forest Schools. A Level 1 Certificate allows you to support sessions run by a qualified Level 3 Forest School Leader and to apply the Forest School principles to your professional and personal practice.
If you want to run your own Forest School programmes you need to complete the Level 3 training. You do not need to have completed Level 1 or Level 2 training to complete the Level 3 course.
During your Introduction to Forest School Level 1 training you will learn the fundamental aspects of the British Forest School methodology while gaining invaluable practical Forest School skills. You will have the unique opportunity to observe and analyse the delivery of a real life Forest School session. During the course, you will complete the theoretical sections of your portfolio which will cover the Forest School approach to child-led learning and holistic development and the importance of risky play and its management. You will also have the opportunity of booking additional practical sessions covering shelters, ropes, crafts and tools.
The course includes
- Registration with British Awarding Body
- 1 day covering the theoretical aspects of the methodology
- A practical forest school training day
