Valencia Forest School | Early Childhood Education - Forest methodology British School

Valencia Forest School is a British-inspired, Scandinavian-inspired environmental education project. Our methodology focuses on self-directed learning and personal and emotional development through play, creativity and multi-sensory experiences in nature.

Our Play School for children ages 3 to 6 is a fantastic alternative to schooling in the non-compulsory stage of early childhood education. This is a bilingual English/Spanish respectful outdoor education program in which we work on the early years British curriculum (EYFS) through the Forest School methodology as described by the UK Forest School Association. At the Play School we also welcome worldschoolers 3 to 12 years old who are in Valencia on a temporary basis.

On another hand, our Forest School programs for children 3 to 12 years old on Saturdays, Summer and Easter holidays, the first week of September and Forest School activities for schools offer your child the opportunity to develop their critical thinking.

If you are a school, you will be interested to know that our Forest School day trips and programs for preschool, primary and secondary school are unique experiences that combine the learning of English with the development of personal and emotional skills such as empathy and resilience. All this in very engaging forest school sessions in which experimentation through play is the protagonist.

Valencia Forest School is the first in Spain to provide official British training to obtain the Level 3 Certificate for Forest School Leaders. If what you are interested in is understanding the methodology better to be able to apply some of its aspects in your daily life, you can also take the Level 1 Introduction to the Forest School methodology course.

Our new Forest School course for teenagers from 14 to 18 years old offers these students tailor-made sessions in which they will acquire practical bushcraft skills while enjoying the company of their peers outdoors. At the end of the program the participants obtain an official British certification that will make their young curriculum shine.

La Bosque Escuela es una oportunidad maravillosa para que los niños estén en la naturaleza, jugando entre ellos. Cada sesión la viven como una aventura distinta.

My son loves his adventures in the forest. Living in the city, it is great to know he regularly spends some time in nature. At the same time he is making new friends, getting creative and having lots of fun!

El clima es un factor que lo hace atractivo como aprendizaje de vida para ellos y ver como un mismo lugar cambia tanto dependiendo de la estación. Desde baños en el río en tardes soleadas de verano a acampadas con frontales y un té caliente entre las manos.

Ha sido una de las mejores decisiones que hemos tomado para la formación en inglés de mi hijo. Amazing! My best trip in 32 years of teaching! My class of 6 year olds loved it! Well organised, plenty to do. All trips should be like this. I felt uplifted going there.

A wonderful option for homeschooling families! My girls 6 and 9 go once per week to supplement their homeschool curriculum. They always have a wonderful time, have met great friends and it has sparked new interests and confidence for both girls. The teachers are wonderful and the kids always come home tired and happy.

This is a truly magical place! Alison and Laura created a fun, creative and beautiful environment for the kids. It’s inspiring to see that the children are free to explore, learn and be creative in a supportive and kind environment. If you are looking for a place where your child is treated with respect and is allowed the time and space to develop their own skills and interests while also being able to connect with nature, then this is the right place! The best alternative school in Valencia! Based on the UK concept of the forest school, this bilingual school is led by two experts in the field who practise a child-led respectful educational approach. Laura the native Spanish and Allison the native Brit, make the perfect compliment for kids looking for an environment to explore outside the classroom in the woods. This is not an unstructured approach. There are a myriad of activities and goals, while leaving tons of space for self-led exploration and free play. Reading, group singing, story telling, crafts, kitchen play, tree play, tent building, scavenger hunts, are just a few of the many opportunities available that encourage socialisation. The space is in a well defined area of the forest outside Valencia with clear boundaries for the children to have wide areas to play, climb, explore and develop risk management skills. The supervision is kept at a healthy distance to encourage self initiative and learning through free play.

I am really happy that my daughter attends Valencia Forest School. She is learning so many good things, for life! She is so happy after every session. And the teachers/ guides are very motivated, high spirit with this project. That is why the result now is so positive for the wellbeing of the kids.

Nuestra hija de tres años y medio va a la bosque escuela desde el curso pasado. Aprende al aire libre y a su propio ritmo, tiene espacio para ser ella y gana en confianza y autonomía cada día. Laura y Alison hacen posible todo esto acompañando desde el respeto, dando el espacio para que ocurra y creando el ambiente para que cada niño se exprese como es y crezca al ritmo que marque su naturaleza. El proyecto de Laura y Alison es maravilloso. Nuestro hijo se estaba ahogando en la escuela pública, en una clase con ratio de 25 niños, donde por mucho que se quisiera no se atendían sus necesidades. Aquí la ratio es una tercera parte y eso se nota en la atención. Por supuesto, el entorno del bosque y la dinámica que ellas establecen con los niños es algo mágico, incomparable, y eso no tiene precio. Un lugar de libertad y respeto a los niños y su ritmo particular. Muy agradecidos por haber encontrado este oasis en un desierto educativo. ¡Excelente! llevo a mis dos hijos, y ambos salen supercontentos de allí. Conocen un entorno nuevo, aprenden nuevas habilidades, fomentan la imaginación y lo que es más importante se divierten mucho. Para ellos es una actividad lúdica, pero desde que van a la Forest School han aumentado su autoestima incrementando la confianza en sí mismo, han mejorado al ser parte de un equipo, saben desenvolverse en un entorno desconocido para ellos, han dejado crecer su imaginación y además, a todo eso, le sumamos que se desarrolla la competencia lingüística en habla inglesa. La bosque escuela ofrece un mundo de posibilidades de trabajar tanto la parte intelectual como la emocional. Es un mixed perfecto que ayuda a que los niños trabajen sus competencias emocionales y venzan sus miedos o refuercen su autoestima. Por otra parte desarrollan a niveles extraordinarios su imaginación de forma que luego lo aplican a los diferentes ámbitos de su vida. Tristemente los colegios son sitios donde la creatividad de los alumnos poco a poco se merma y Valencia Forest School te ofrece todo esto en un espacio abierto en la naturaleza. Además es una perfecta forma de convivir con el inglés puesto que la Valencia Forest School está formada por guías y compañeros de diferentes países. Fuimos a la 1ra clase de prueba con mi hija de 2 años, y fue INCREÍBLE, nos encantó a las dos, fueron momentos para dejar llevar la imaginación, compartir, aprender y sobre todo disfrutar de la naturaleza. Muchas gracias a las maestras, es un proyecto único!

Our two kids (aged 4 and 6) loved their time at Valencia Forest School. The instructors created a great environment where the kids felt really comfortable and were always doing something new. They made several new friends and really enjoyed getting to be in Turia Park each day. We really loved the flexibility to be able to do this short-term and work this around our other travel plans.
